Too many people now hear a "watered down" gospel. They're told to "come to Christ, and He will give you love, joy, peace, and lasting fulfillment." We're told we shouldn't use words like sin and hell, and even the cross, and that people just need to hear about love. We're told speaking of such things as sin will only push people away. But if someone doesn't see their sin, they won't truly see how much they need God, or why they need to repent. They wouldn't think they need to repent if they don't think they've done anything wrong. We're all sinners in need of the Lord; how can we show that to people if we don't use words like sin? And why should we avoid the word Hell? Hell is a very real place. It shouldn't be ignored and glossed over. People need to know about it.

Look at it this way: If you were the captain of a boat that was sinking, what would you tell everyone? Maybe it would be best not to tell them about the water and how deep it is because it might upset them. Telling them they could drown might offend them. Should you instead tell them to put on lifejackets so they would have a better trip? So they would be happier and at peace? Of course not! They would think you were crazy. You would tell them to put the lifejackets on or they were going to drown, because the boat was going to sink.

Likewise, you shouldn't just tell the lost to come to Christ for fulfillment. They need to see that they're hell-bound sinners, who are condemned unless they repent. They're dying and going to hell, and they need to see it. Everyone has sinned, and those without Christ are destined for Hell. Those who haven't repented are in desperate need of the Savior.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. - Luke 13:3

Repentance is necessary to salvation, and ignoring that and telling the lost they don't need to repent or that their sin doesn't matter is leading them astray. The Bible makes it clear that we're all sinners in need of a Savior, and that we must repent to be saved. And as Christians, we were commanded to "go unto all the world and preach the gospel". We need to reach out to the lost and try to lead them to the Lord. People are dying every day, many of them without the Savior. We should feel a love and concern for them, and do what we can to reach them.
